What has the music industry come to for a quintessential songbird like Mary J. Blige to scrape the underside of the talent table in order to get some chart success.
This was actually a good listen but is it worth spending $1.29 on? It’s entirely up to you. Either the way Mary J. remains to keep the whole affair classy in both departments; visual and musical production. With the latter exuding a form of R&B heard at the very beginning of this century.
With her album debuting at the Top 5 of the US charts the multiple Grammy award winner embraces us with a video for the highly anticipated Drake assisted track. Drake does not feature on the video nor does does his verse therefore causing quite a stir.
This R&B number is a more soulful and emotional number than her previous contemporary effort. The strong voiced diva exudes her amazing vocals on the Jim Jonsin production and proves herself yet again.
Honestly, I’m glad that Drake or his verse was not featured on the video therefore making it entirely a Mary J. Blige project.
The song is pretty much about love but with a banging acoustical drum beat accompanied by a classic sounding melody to match the vocal chops of the queen. The lyrics are typical for a mid-tempo track of this nature but lyrics aside this track is quite good. The visuals as usual were done in front of a green screen.
This album is the sequel for the 1994 album of the same name and also MJB’s tenth studio album. The album whose full title is My Life II…The Journey Continues (Act 1) has already spawned a single titled “25/8″ and is preparing for release a second single titled “Mr. Wrong” .
