J. Cole “Sideline Story” Video Premiere

J.Cole is a lyricist but when he raps he sounds gaunt. Nevertheless, this is a guy with a lot of talent since he produces some of his own music (including this) and still manages to sound diverse in every track. Hence he was signed to Roc Nation. Did you know that J.Cole has a dual degree?

“Sideline Story” appears on his debut album, Cole World: The Sideline Story.

The video was shot in some of the main cities of the world. A few bits and pieces of  behind-the-scenes happenings are also shown. In a few words this can be described as a fresh video.

J.Cole ft. Missy Elliot “Nobody’s Perfect” Video Premiere

Missy Elliot makes her first appearance on a music video in quite a number of years but sadly her verse is only reduced to the chorus.

Not a bad track overall although I wish Cole could add some emotion to his bland rap-vocals. Even when he gets emotional and down to earth Cole sounds like he’s drunk. The track interpolates “Think” by the late Curtis Mayfield and it was produced by J.Cole himself.

The video is not a bad attempt despite what the comments on his YouTube page say. It has an artistic ring to it. This would serve as the third official single from Cole’s debut studio album Cole World: The Sideline Story under Roc Nation.

J.Cole “Lost Ones” Video Premiere

Apparently this video was filmed sometime during 2008 before J.Cole had a record deal. The video was filmed with his savings.

A beautiful track off her Cole’s recently released album Cole World: The Sideline Story (September). This track is worth listening to if you are looking for a meaningful song.

J.Cole “Daddy’s Little Girl” Video Premiere

This doesn’t look like a an official video released through label funding but an independent effort to act as a buzz video. Nevertheless this track is beautiful much better than all three singles released so far: “Who Dat”, “Work Out” & “Can’t Get Enough”.

A much tender production based on subtle lyrics carefully placed to manufacture a clear message, is what you could call this track and video. This track unfortunately appears in the Bonus edition of Cole’s recently released debut album, Cole World: The Sideline Story

rating: ♥♥♥  (the message is what counts)

J.Cole “Cole World: The Sideline Story” album cover

Releasing on, September 27th

Now this is an album to look out for. Jay Z’s latest protege is prepping up to release his debut album this September supported by his “Any Given Sunday” campaign.

So far three singles on the album are confirmed; Who Dat, Work Out & Can’t Get Enough. A video for the Trey Songz assisted track “Can’t Get Enough” is scheduled to be released a week before the album drops.

J. Cole “Work Out” Video Premiere

After months of editing and re-shooting the final product steps on to the limelight. J. Cole a rapper hailing from Jay Z’s Roc Nation label has been gathering up quite the following ever since the release of his first mixtape. This is apparently the second video for his upcoming debut album, Cole World: The Sideline Story.

The video has nothing special in it compared to his first video nevertheless its worth listening to.

J.Cole “Work Out” Single Premiere

The official single off J.Cole’s upcoming untitled album via Roc Nation. As usual J.Cole delivers an impeccable work of art with his mellow lyrics on the tune sampled off Kanye West’s “New Workout Plan”.

Definitely worth the download if you are a “real” hip hop devotee.

J.Cole “Lost Ones” Single Leak/Premiere

Sadly for J.Cole this single was leaked from his upcoming album. Lucky for us this single is worth the leak.
On the first verse he raps about getting his girlfriend pregnant and refusing to father the child therefore hoping on an abortion and on the second verse he raps in the perspective of his girlfriend, who is refusing to do so.

All in all, in spite of the simple beat the lyrics contain meaning and is therefore worth giving it a shot. It’s nice to see new rappers being so insightful.

J.Cole “Return of Simba” Single Premiere

Jcole return of simba

After much contemplation of reading mixed reviews of this single on a variety of music blogs & forums I finally took a chance to give it a listen and I must say that I was not disappointed as I thought I would be.
“Return of Simba” showcases J.Cole’s lyrical prowess as opposed to gut wrenching beats many of these upcoming rap artistes concentrate on.

In a few words if you are into the kind of hip hop that Lupe Fiasco, B.o.B etc. produces then this is for you.
