Common “Raw (How You Like It)” Video Premiere

The beat is classic. The musical composition is unique. But something about Common made the entire track seem off.

This is Common’s fifth video off his unsuccessful album The Dreamer/The Believer. While many may tend to argue the album did not chart well on the Billboard 200 according to my mind. Charting close to the number 20 position is by no way a good charting especially for a veteran in the game but he did sell close to a 100k so that’s deserves attention.

As for this song it exuded a classical hip hop vibe but when Common started to rhyme on it, the track itself felt awkward. Nevertheless the beat was good and the video was satisfactory but I won’t be downloading this.

Common “Celebrate” Video Premiere

Common celebrates the New Year in an appropriate manner with friends Ludacris & Tyga to a beautiful Kenny Loggins sampled beat. This would be the fourth video off Common’s album The Dreamer, The Believer which was also released today.

The chorus was provided by Roc Nation’s talented singer-songwriter James Fauntleroy II and the track was produced by the vice-president of Def Jam Records No I.D.

The video is appropriate and was probably done through a moderated budget whereas the track was fun and happy and was engineered perfectly to exude a classical hip hop vibe. An overall good effort by the two time Grammy winner.

Common “Sweet” Video Premiere

Common takes it to the streets of Haiti to film yet another controversial video. This track will be featured on his upcoming ninth album The Dreamer, The Believer.

The melody is quite good made mostly of a loop of the words “You look so sweet” with a simple but hard beat vibrating in the background. This track isn’t for everyone but giving it a listen won’t be a waste of time if you area hip hop enthusiast. I warn you that this is quite different from his inspirational track “Blue Sky”.

Common “Blue Sky” Video Premiere

Although Common’s first single “Ghetto Dreams” didn’t bring anything new to the table that does not mean his second single too is a generic effort. “Blue Sky” is the second video for Common’s upcoming album The Dreamer, The Believer hitting stores sometime during November.

This inspirational track might be the correct tone for Common to break into the commercial charts with. The No I.D. produced hip hop beat along with Common’s inspirational lyrics produces nothing but pure hip hop beauty.

The visuals depict a batch of people including a ballerina, a basketball player, a violinist and an artist all trying to aspire living out of their passion. What I did not get was the pregnant woman in the bath tub.

A beautiful video to top off an equally beautiful song. Additional vocals were provided by Makeba. I’m guessing it’s the same girl managed by Roc Nation.

Common ft. Nas “Ghetto Dreams” Video Premiere

The melody of this track is reminiscent with the melodies produced back 10 years ago but sadly there’s no proper chorus thereby making this single lose it’s potential. The video is in black & white therefore making it look like a piece of art but what this track basically required was more Nas and less Common.

Also Common needs to trim his beard because he looks like a homeless Rick Ross.
