Asher Roth obviously has a following else he would not have been signed to Def Jam but what stops him from accumulating more fans over a wide spread area is his inability to offer something new to the already deteriorating hip hop genre.
I admit that I have not listened to every single work of music he has released but judging by his mainstream material one can only say that he is undeniably a good lyricist. But what else has got to offer? Nothing according to what I hear.
This track is good and can be also called awesome due to the entrancing melody supported by the simple acoustical beat. Roth rhymes line and after line with a plethora of colorful and well placed words but not in a style that one could understand upon hearing. Careful analysis of the verses might help but within an ear shot it’s hard to understand what this song is all about.
Before I forget, this is his first video off his latest mixtape Pabst & Jazz Sessions.
